A collection of five sterling silver jewels that convey a message of equality conceived by Gaika and handmade by Manuel Bozzi in Tuscany, in the oldest Italian goldsmith tradition.
The collaboration between Gaika and Manuel Bozzi arises from a profound and urgent need. The years we are experiencing see us protagonists of a world in evolution, in which the forms of power change and sometimes become shady and elusive. The role of an artist is in first place to make his voice heard, and take a stance in a constantly changing political context: the artist becomes a total-artist, one who uses every means of expression to convey his message, making life itself its own work. This collection, a hybrid of design, poetry and applied art, takes shape starting from a text by Gaika. With an evocative and powerful language he speaks of current events through verses that seem to belong to both a past and future civilization at the same time. The themes are universal, abstract from every era, and at the same time never so contemporary: life, death, equality. Manuel Bozzi’s design underlines this duality, with references to the Italian goldsmith tradition combined with a futuristic and unconventional fit. A rough and materical design, in which the hand craft component emerges in all its power. They are objects born from the hand of man, and designed to remain over time. Engraved on silver we find the keywords taken from Gaika’s text. These are the fundamental themes of the collection, symbolic words that speak to all humanity.
"Black is forever
Every colour wilts and fade away
Glory to the Spectacular Empire
The immortal immigrant abode
Live for thrills in heaven Die in hell alone
We bones, lying here bare, await yours
Each man is equal in death of course
Destroy earthly borders, the sin of vanity
With blood and bone and flesh and dust
We are one humanity in mourning
Blossoms are splendid before their fall
Time flees from the rich as it does the poor
Armoured with holy things or the devils grin
The reaper swings for us all"
